Mercedes Brabus V12 Biturbo C-Class

Mercedes tuner Brabus has unveiled its new Brabus V12 Biturbo C-Class sedan that it plans to present at tomorrow’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Brabus has been transplanting high power, large displacement engines into regular Mercedes sedans for the past three decades, which has led it to develop the new Bullit C-Class sedan powered by a 720 horsepwoer 6.3L V12. The mega-engine develops a peak torque of 1,320Nm (974 lb-ft) but has to be electronically limited to 811 lb-ft to preserve the gearbox and tires. In developing the new engine, engineers at Brabus added special pistons and connecting rods, a new turbocharging system with two larger chargers and more efficient intercoolers, and metal catalysts with a low back pressure stainless-steel exhaust. Power is transferred to the rear wheels and performance tires via a massively modified five-speed automatic transmission and a Brabus rear locking differential with a locking rate of up to 40%. This fast sedan sprints from 62mph in just 3.9 seconds, reaches 124mph after just 10.49 seconds and passes the 186mph mark after a mere 24.5 seconds. Top speed is claimed to be in excess of 224mph.
